Privacy policy (Datenschutzerklärung)

This page describes what happens to your data when you visit this site or get in touch with me.

This is an English translation of the German version. In case of discrepancies, the German version prevails.

2. Data processing on this site in brief

This site is a static information page. For you as a visitor, this means the following:

Theme button: the site has a button for switching between a light and a dark appearance. Your choice (“light” or “dark”) is saved under the key “pedai-theme” in your browser’s localStorage only when you click it, so that the site opens the way you left it. This value stays in your browser and is not sent to the server or to anyone else. You can remove it at any time by clearing the site data in your browser. Saving it is necessary to provide the function you requested, § 25 (2) No. 2 TDDDG.

Device preferences: without a saved theme choice, the appearance follows your device’s light or dark setting and updates when that setting changes. On the main home address, the site uses your browser’s preferred supported language (German, English, Ukrainian or Polish), with German as the fallback. An explicit language URL remains accessible. Choosing a language in the menu saves only its language code under “pedai-language” in your browser’s localStorage; it is not sent to the server or third parties. You can reset these preferences by clearing the site data. If storage is unavailable, the menu and device defaults still work. Hosting request processing is described in section 3.

3. Hosting and server logs

When you open the site, the hosting provider automatically processes the information your browser transmits: IP address, date and time of the request, the page requested and the browser type.

Purpose of processing: technical delivery of the site and its security. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) point f DSGVO/GDPR (legitimate interest). This data is not combined with other data sources.

Hosting provider: Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Processing may also take place on servers in the USA. The data transfer is based on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

How long server logs are kept is determined by Netlify. For details, see the provider’s privacy policy: netlify.com/privacy

4. Contact by e-mail or telephone

If you write to me by e-mail or call me, I process the data you provide (for example your contact details and the content of your enquiry) in order to answer your request and to deal with any follow-up questions.

Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) points b and f DSGVO/GDPR (taking steps at your request before entering into a contract, and my legitimate interest in answering enquiries).

The data is kept for as long as it is needed to handle the request and any follow-up questions. After that it is deleted, unless the law requires it to be kept longer. I do not pass this data on to third parties without your consent.

5. Booking a call via Calendly

To book a call, the site contains only a link to the Calendly service (Calendly LLC, 271 17th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30363, USA). Calendly itself is not embedded in the site.

Data processing at Calendly begins only when you follow the link and enter your details there: name, e-mail address and the time you choose. Legal basis: Art. 6 (1) point b DSGVO/GDPR (taking steps prior to entering into a contract at your request).

Calendly also processes data in the USA. The data transfer is based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework. For details, see the service’s privacy policy: calendly.com/privacy

6. Link to LinkedIn

The site contains an ordinary link to my LinkedIn profile. There is no LinkedIn plug-in on the pages. LinkedIn (LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland) processes data only after you follow the link, and in accordance with its own privacy policy.

7. Budget calculator

The budget calculator runs locally in your browser. The number you enter is not sent to a server and is not stored anywhere.

8. Security

The site is available only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS/TLS). It protects the data transmitted between your browser and the server.

10. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. As a rule, this is the authority at your usual place of residence. For the federal state of Hesse, it is Der Hessische Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit (the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information).

11. Automated decisions

There is no automated decision-making or profiling on this site.

You are not obliged to provide me with personal data. If you contact me, only the data without which the request cannot be answered is needed.

12. Changes

I will update this text if something on the site changes, for example if new features or services appear. The current version is always available on this page.
